Don't rain on our cleanup parade
Rick Hansen Secondary School students Sara
Thiessen, left, Georgia Ballem and Shanay Valk brave the cold and rain to clean
up the shoreline at Albert Dyck Park Wednesday. The project, Great Canadian
Shoreline Cleanup is provincewide and runs from Sept. 16-24. This was the first
year Rick Hansen students participated in the project. Sixty students scoured
the entire park and picked up 20 bags of garbage and a large box full of broken
glass and nails.
"It was pouring rain," said biology teacher Jocelyn Much, co-ordinator of the
outing. "Getting teenagers to get out after school and pick up garbage is not an
easy thing to do. I was very impressed."
