Local heroes hockey game goes Saturday
- Staff reporter
Who are your heroes - firefighters or police officers?
Pick a side and come cheer for your favourite local heroes at a hockey game at MSA Arena [2323 Emerson St., Abbotsford] on Saturday.
The hockey game is the first annual "local heroes" charity tournament, and will benefit the local non-profit organization D.R.E.A.M.
D.R.E.A.M.'s goal is to establish an adolescent girls treatment centre with a long-term residential treatment program for girls 18 years and under. The program will focus on addiction, providing life skills, support and education young women need to be successful in life.
The organization's ultimate goal is to "not only empower young women but also to give them back their dreams."
The treatment centre will be the only one of its kind in B.C. The hockey game and festivities go from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 30. Advance tickets are $5 with a non-perishable food item or $7 at the door [children five and under get in free].
